FKM materials have gained ground in numerous applications where high thermal and/or chemical resistance is required. FKM also impresses with its excellent resistance to ozone, weather conditions, and aging. FKM is suitable for vacuum applications due to its very low gas permeability.
FKM is highly resistant to
- Mineral oil-based oils and greases
- Aliphatic hydrocarbons
- Aromatic hydrocarbons
- Chlorinated hydrocarbons
- HFD pressure fluids
- Vegetable and animal oils and greases
- Silicone oils and silicone greases
- Motor fuels
- Non-polar solvents
- Ozone, weather conditions, aging
FKM is not resistant to
- Glycol-based brake fluids
- Polar solvents (e.g., acetone)
- Super heated water vapor
- Hot water
- Amines, alkalis
- Low molecular weight acids (e.g., acetic acid)
Operating temperature range: -15 to +200°C, with special grades -50°C is achievable
